Guangzhou Nansha Passenger Port is the cross-border ferry terminal on the Pearl River in Guangzhou's Nansha District. It is a ferry terminal for high-speed boats to Hong Kong. It is not a cruise port.
Two routes run from here. One goes to the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, and takes about 90 minutes. The other goes to the SkyPier at Hong Kong International Airport and takes about 70 minutes. The airport ferry is airside only, for passengers flying out of Hong Kong the same day.
This guide covers the October 2026 sailing times, fares from 1 April 2026, check-in rules, the airport-ferry restrictions and how to reach the terminal on Guangzhou Metro Line 4.
Where Nansha Passenger Port Is
The terminal stands on the Pearl River in Nansha District, in southern Guangzhou, about 1.6 km south of the Humen Bridge. The address is No. 2 Xingsha Road, Nansha District, Guangzhou (广州市南沙区兴沙路2号), postal code 511458. Older pages give a different street address, but both refer to the same building.
In Chu Kong Passenger Transport (CKS) booking systems the terminal appears as "Guangzhou Nansha Passenger Port", with the port code NSZ. Locally it is also called 南沙客运港 or 南沙港客运码头. Showing a taxi driver the Chinese address avoids confusion.
Nansha is a long way from central Guangzhou, so allow plenty of time to reach the terminal before your check-in deadline.
Ferry Routes from Nansha to Hong Kong
Only two routes operate from Nansha Passenger Port. Both use high-speed ferries, and tickets are sold through CKS, which has acted as the ticketing agent since 1 March 2017.
Nansha to China Ferry Terminal (Tsim Sha Tsui)
This is the route to take if you want to visit Hong Kong. Ferries arrive at the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, after about 90 minutes. You clear Hong Kong immigration on arrival. Ferries return from the China Ferry Terminal to Nansha in about 90 minutes.
Nansha to Hong Kong Airport SkyPier
The airport ferry takes about 70 minutes and docks at the SkyPier inside the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). It is a transfer service for people flying out of HKIA. You cannot enter Hong Kong on this ferry, and you need a confirmed flight on the same day with a participating airline. In the other direction, passengers who land at HKIA can take the ferry to Nansha without going through Hong Kong immigration.
Nansha Ferry Timetable (October 2026)
CKS online booking, checked for 23 to 26 October 2026, lists three sailings a day in each direction on each route:
- Nansha to China Ferry Terminal: 09:50, 15:10 and 18:50
- China Ferry Terminal to Nansha: 08:00, 13:00 and 17:00
- Nansha to HKIA SkyPier: 09:20, 12:30 and 15:50
- HKIA SkyPier to Nansha: 11:00, 14:20 and 17:30
The timetable table on the terminal's own website shows older times for the city route, so go by the times in the CKS booking system when you book. Sailings change and are often suspended in bad weather or for temporary reasons; the terminal posted several suspension notices in 2025 and 2026. Check the terminal's website (nskyg.com) or its WeChat account (南沙客运港) before you travel.
Nansha Ferry Fares (from 1 April 2026)
Fares below are the terminal's fares effective 1 April 2026. Fares are quoted in both renminbi and Hong Kong dollars.
China Ferry Terminal route
- Economy: adult RMB 200 / HK$220; child RMB 120 / HK$135
- First Class: adult RMB 280 / HK$310; child RMB 170 / HK$210
- VIP room: RMB 1,400 / HK$1,560, sold as a whole room for up to 4 people
- Economy return package: RMB 320 / HK$370
The same fares apply from the China Ferry Terminal back to Nansha.
Airport (SkyPier) route
- Nansha to SkyPier, Economy: adult RMB 430 / HK$470, plus a RMB 30 fuel surcharge. CKS online booking shows HK$475 for adults and HK$320 for children.
- Nansha to SkyPier, First Class: HK$565
- SkyPier to Nansha, Economy: adult RMB 390 / HK$430. CKS online booking shows HK$435 for adults and HK$320 for children.
Hong Kong dollar prices in CKS online booking can differ slightly from the terminal's published fares on the airport route, probably because of the fuel surcharge and rounding. On the city route the two match.
Rules for the SkyPier Airport Ferry
The airport ferry is useful if you live in or are staying in southern Guangzhou and are flying out of Hong Kong, because you skip Hong Kong immigration and go straight to your flight. The rules are strict:
- You must hold a confirmed flight departing HKIA on the same day with a participating airline.
- You cannot leave the airport's restricted area or enter Hong Kong.
- Each sailing only accepts passengers on later flights: the 09:20 sailing is for flights departing after 12:30, the 12:30 sailing for flights after 15:40, and the 15:50 sailing for flights after 19:00.
- The terminal recommends arriving at least 90 minutes before sailing. Ticketing and check-in close 45 minutes before departure, and the gate closes 15 minutes before.
If you are arriving at HKIA and heading to Nansha, buy your ticket at the CKS counter in the Terminal 1 E2 transfer area. You do not pass through Hong Kong immigration.
If you want to spend time in Hong Kong before your flight, take the city route to the China Ferry Terminal instead.
Check-in, Tickets and Child Fares
For the China Ferry Terminal route, arrive at the ticket office 40 minutes before sailing. Check-in closes 15 minutes before departure. Carry the passport or travel permit you will use to cross the border, as you clear Chinese exit controls at the terminal.
Tickets can be booked through CKS online booking or bought at the terminal. Book ahead at busy times, such as weekends and public holidays.
Child fare rules:
- Children aged 1 to under 5 need a child ticket.
- Passengers aged 5 and over pay the adult fare.
- Infants under 1 travel free without a seat, limited to one per adult. Collect a no-seat infant ticket at the counter before sailing.
The terminal has separate hotlines for each route: 020-8468 8963 for the China Ferry Terminal route and 020-8468 8716 for the airport route.
Getting to Nansha Passenger Port
By metro: Line 4
Guangzhou Metro Line 4 ends at Nansha Passenger Port station, its southern terminus, which opened on 28 December 2017. The station is about 0.5 km from the ferry terminal building, a short walk.
From central Guangzhou, take Line 3 south to Haibang, then change to Line 4 and ride it south to the end of the line. It is a long ride of about 68 km of track. No official end-to-end journey time is published, so leave a generous margin before your check-in deadline. For fares, payment and route planning, see our Guangzhou metro guide.
Line 18 does not serve the terminal
Metro Line 18 also reaches Nansha, but it does not go to the ferry terminal. Its southern terminus is Wanqingsha, and it has no interchange with Line 4. Use Line 4.
From the airport and railway stations
From Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, take the metro to Line 3, ride it south to Haibang and change to Line 4. Taxis are another option. Show the driver the Chinese address, 广州市南沙区兴沙路2号.
Terminal Facilities and History
The departure and arrival halls each have eight inspection lanes. Inside the terminal there is a duty-free shop, a restaurant, a café and a supermarket.
The terminal is run by Panyu Nansha Port Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. (番禺南沙港客运有限公司), founded in 1992 to run waterborne passenger services between Nansha and Hong Kong. The first terminal opened in 1992. The current building replaced it in July 2004 and was designed to handle 1.6 million passengers a year.
Routes Nansha Does Not Offer
Several older guides list services that no longer run. As of October 2026:
- No Macau ferry. A route to Macau's Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal began in June 2010. Weekday sailings were cancelled in January 2011, and the route remains suspended.
- No Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal (Sheung Wan) sailings. Nansha has no ferries to Hong Kong Island. Its city ferries use the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
- Lianhuashan no longer runs Hong Kong ferries. The Lianhuashan (Panyu) route is suspended, and Lianhuashan is not on CKS's current port list.
- Pazhou is airport-only. CKS also lists Pazhou in Haizhu District, central Guangzhou, but it showed only SkyPier sailings in October 2026, with no sailings to the China Ferry Terminal.
Ferry or High-Speed Rail to Hong Kong?
The Nansha ferry makes most sense if you are already in Nansha or southern Guangzhou, if you want to arrive in Tsim Sha Tsui by sea, or if you are flying out of HKIA and want the airside SkyPier transfer.
From central Guangzhou, the main alternative is high-speed rail from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon. Because the ferries are often suspended in bad weather, rail can be the more dependable choice when the forecast is poor. Compare both before you book.
Tips Before You Travel
- Confirm your sailing on the day: check the terminal's notices or WeChat account for weather or temporary suspensions.
- Use the CKS booking times, not old printed timetables.
- For the airport ferry, check that your flight time fits the cut-off for your sailing and that your airline takes part in the SkyPier service.
- Arrive early: 40 minutes before sailing for the city route, at least 90 minutes for the airport route.
- Take Line 4, not Line 18, to reach the terminal by metro.
- Carry your passport or travel permit, and make sure your visa or entry permit is valid for your return to mainland China.
