The Lyon City Card can simplify a museum-heavy trip, but it is not automatically a saving. Its value comes from the attractions, one guided visit, seasonal cruise and TCL journeys you will actually use inside a consecutive validity period.

Official web adult prices at the audit date are €29.90 for 24 hours, €41.90 for 48, €52.90 for 72 and €63.90 for 96. Airport-transfer versions cost more and must be compared separately.

What the Standard Card Includes

Turn this guide into a personal route with our free Lyon itinerary planner.

The official listing advertises access to 26 museums and temporary exhibitions, unlimited TCL transport in zones 1–2, one tourism-office guided visit, a seasonal leisure cruise, Guignol shows and selected discounts. Specific reservations, event exclusions, capacity and closure days still apply.

Important Transport Exceptions

Standard card transport covers metro, tram, bus and funicular in zones 1–2. Navigône is excluded from that transport inclusion. Rhônexpress is included only in the more expensive airport-transfer card version, not the standard pass. Validate at first use and at subsequent transport connections.

Calculate Value from the Final Itinerary

Add only admissions and activities that fit the confirmed days. Compare that total plus expected TCL travel with the exact card duration. Free basilica entry, outdoor Roman theatres and public neighborhoods do not create card savings. A museum closure can remove a large share of the expected value.

Reserve Covered Activities

Guided tours and cruises can have limited places even when included. Follow the card's official reservation instructions and do not assume showing the pass guarantees a preferred time. Check language, meeting point, cancellation and whether the activity operates on the visit date.

Activation and Practical Use

The timed pass runs consecutively after activation. Do not trigger it on an arrival evening unless that use is deliberate. Keep the card or mobile version charged and available, carry eligibility proof for reduced products, and validate every transport journey as instructed.

How to Use This Guide on the Day

Treat every time, fare and opening pattern as a planning input rather than a guarantee. Recheck the controlling official page on the evening before the visit and again before leaving. Save the exact entrance, ticket barcode and one same-area alternative offline. Free access can still change for services, weather, maintenance, resident needs, capacity or special events.

Allow more time than a routing app's fastest estimate. Lyon's hills, river crossings, cobbles, large stations and funicular connections affect real effort. Travelers who require step-free access should verify each platform, lift, street, threshold and toilet separately; an accessible attraction does not make the complete journey accessible.

Keep one element flexible around every fixed booking. A square, café, riverbank or public exterior can shorten or disappear if the previous stop runs late. If a closure occurs, replace the unavailable stop inside the same district before crossing the city. This protects the rest of the route and keeps a single disruption from consuming the day.

Plan with Live Information

This guide was checked against first-party information on August 4, 2026. Lyon transport, attraction access, prices, weather, works, exhibitions and event controls can change after publication. Reopen the official source that controls your date before paying, departing or relying on an accessible route. A reservation manages one part of the visit; it does not remove security, guarantee every space or protect a connection scheduled without buffer.
