Use Jiaodong Airport, Not the Closed Liuting Airport
TAO now refers to Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. The Civil Aviation Administration of China recorded Jiaodong's opening and the overnight airport transfer on August 12, 2021. Old directions to Qingdao Liuting International Airport, Liuting station, or shuttle numbers 701–705 do not describe today's passenger arrival at TAO.
This distinction matters because some high-ranking transport pages still combine the current TAO code with Liuting routes. If a result tells you to start at Liuting, names the old terminal, or gives a Liuting airport bus timetable, close it and use the official Jiaodong Airport transport page.

“Qingdao city center” is too vague for an airport transfer. Central Shinan includes both the old town around Qingdao Railway Station and the newer waterfront around May Fourth Square, while Laoshan and the West Coast require different onward routes.

Ride-hailing prices are market-based, so an old fixed “DiDi fare to downtown” is not reliable. Save the hotel's Chinese name, full address, district, telephone number, and map pin before landing. Show staff the hotel address in Chinese and ask them to confirm the final stop before buying. Do not board merely because a sign says “downtown Qingdao.”
High-speed or intercity rail
Qingdao Airport railway station is also in the GTC on B1. Rail can be useful for Qingdao North or another Shandong destination, but it is a scheduled China Railway service rather than a turn-up-and-go airport shuttle. Search 青岛机场站 in the official 12306 system for your date.
Compare the next available train, ticket inventory, station at the other end, and final hotel transfer. A short train ride is not the fastest choice if you must wait an hour for departure and then take another metro or taxi. Do not decide from the flight's scheduled landing time. Immigration, baggage delivery, a remote stand, or a delay can move you beyond the last useful connection. Check the complete metro route only after you know when you can leave the terminal.
